Reference Field Trip: Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Springfield In-Person
Reference librarians need to be thoroughly familiar with the reference tools at their disposal, in order to most appropriately and efficiently connect patrons with information and services. To that end, and at the request of MLS Reference learners, we introduce Reference Field Trips, as series of guided, on-site explorations of services and information producers within the Commonwealth. Attendance is very limited. Locations are chosen based on potential interest and enrichment of Reference providers. Tours will be focused on Reference relevant services. This field trip is to Merriam-Webster, 47 Federal St., Springfield, MA. Learn about the history and process of making dictionaries.
Please note this is an R&D project to assess feasibility of the educational model. MLS will not provide transportation.
