SUMMARY:Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West\, LitRPG - Literary Role-Playing Game
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our western Mass Readers' Advisory genre study. Our  
 benchmark title is Dungeon Crawler Carl  by Matt Dinniman.  Coast Guard vet 
 Carl and Princes Donut\, his ex-girlfriend's prize-winning show cat\, try 
 to survive the end of the world in a video game-like\, trap-filled fantasy 
 dungeon.  A dungeon that's the set of a reality television show with 
 countless viewers across the galaxy.  It's not an ordinary game show - 
 prizes and penalties are much more extreme.  We expect this discussion to 
 be lively.  \n\nWe will discuss the appeal of our benchmark and the 
 audience for it as well as readalikes to suggest to users if they want a 
 similar title or if the book is unavailable.  Each of us may read a second 
 title of our choosing in the genre as our personal choice. (Check NoveList 
 for suggestions.) We exchange ideas\, define the appeals of the genre\, 
 suggest books and other media\, and come away with an awareness of 
 additional titles to offer our users. Join us online to share your choices 
 and hear those of colleagues.  \n\nWe meet bimonthly via Zoom to explore 
 various genres and readers advisory skills and how to use them to meet the 
 needs of our users.  In alternate months\, in our Chat sessions\, we share 
 what we have been reading/watching/listening to and discover new titles\, 
 authors\, and topics to enjoy.\n\nThose who register for sessions will
