Description

The presentation will give an overview of the work of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Task Group on AI for Cataloging and Metadata activities, with particular focus on the Guiding Principles, the Best Practices, and the Community of Practice. The presenters will convey how the support and recommendations of the Task Group are grounded in guiding principles regarding metadata quality and efficiency, the need for human guidance and review of AI-generated output, the importance of maintaining existing cataloging standards of quality and accuracy, and the requirement that AI usage be beneficial to cataloging work, and to society.

  • Receive an overview of tools available to undertake a pilot project testing the utility of AI as related to cataloging
  • Learn the types of support and resources available through the Community of Practice, and how to join
