Members who register directly with ALA are responsible for paying their registration fee.

Please help us keep MLS sponsored training free for all members. If you are unable to attend the live webinar, please cancel your registration. A cancellation link can be found in your confirmation email, or you may contact Sarah Donnelly at sdonnelly@masslibsystem.org to cancel.

Description

Is your current project management system a collection of post-it notes? Do you have to be reminded of a project that was due six months ago? Is there no accountability across the system? Turn your scattered thoughts and wistful dreams into a smooth operation with assembly line project management. Clear processes and expectations reduce stress and confusion, fostering a positive, productive work environment. We'll discuss the foundations of project management including waterfall and Kanban, best practices, offer suggestions, and checklists, and hard-won tips we've honed over years of managing projects. We will cover ways to think critically through projects from beginning to end, how to include and communicate with stakeholders, walk through a project charter, use real-life projects as practice examples, and introduce Asana as a tool to streamline project tracking and collaboration.

This webinar was previously presented in-person as a session at the 2025 Core Forum. We are hosting this webinar, with the session adapted and presented live as a virtual event, to extend its reach.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to manage a project from start to finish, including establishing what success/closure looks like from the beginning! We will define the RACI framework (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed), and walk through how to actually set a SMART goal refining it from start to finish.
