SUMMARY:Mindfulness for Librarians
DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness helps people deal with stress and grow in human 
 wellness. This two-hour mindfulness workshop for librarians will teach you 
 practical ways to be present and grounded\, to provide library service 
 mindfully and intentionally\, to grow in compassion for self and for 
 others\, and to avoid professional burn-out and compassion 
 fatigue.\n\nAfter this program\, you will be able to:\n\n\n	Define 
 mindfulness.\n	Connect with your breath to stay grounded and 
 present.\n	Cultivate compassion for self and others.\n	Develop strategies 
 to avoid burn-out and fatigue.\n	Integrate mindfulness practices into your 
 professional and personal life.\n\n\nAbout our presenter: Ethel Fraga began 
 meditating with the Beatles in the 60’s. For 50 years\, she has been a 
 daily meditator and student of mindful and contemplative living. 
 Professionally\, she has served in the public schools as secondary English 
 teacher and school librarian. After retiring from full time work\, she 
 trained to teach Jon Kabat Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 
 Course and in this new work brings together her experience in and deep 
 respect for both mindful living and service to others through 
 education.\n\nThis CE opportunity supports the current MLS Strategic Plan\, 
 specifically the themes and goals of co-creator culture\, communication\, 
 and future readiness.\n\nJoin us for the morning workshop\, too!  Caring 
 for the Mind: Providing Mental Health Information at Your Library. Register 
 separately for both programs. We’ll break for an hour in between the 
 morning and afternoon workshops.  Bring a bag lunch or enjoy lunch on your 
 own.\n\n
