Strategies and Techniques to Foster Inclusion of Patrons with Disabilities

Gain the tools and confidence to interact with and support patrons with disabilities to be an active and valued part of your library community. This training starts with giving you an understanding of inclusion philosophies and disability etiquette. Get a basic introduction to traits of Autism, ADD/ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorders and why certain approaches help promote success in a library program setting. Explore inclusive practices and preventative strategies and put them into action by solving common inclusion scenarios in small groups. End the session learning about positive supporting techniques to use with all patrons, and tips for communicating with families, and group home staff.
