SUMMARY:Dealing With Difficult Library Board Members (LibraryWorks Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:The Massachusetts Library System is pleased to announce that we
are working with LibraryWorks to provide our members with access to their
webinars. These webinars are free to Massachusetts library workers who
register through our calendar. \n\n\n	Please note: To attend these webinars
at no cost\, you must register here. If you register directly with
LibraryWorks\, your registration will not be paid by MLS. \n	Please help us
keep MLS sponsored training free for all members. If you are unable to
attend the live webinar\, please cancel your registration. A cancellation
link can be found in your confirmation email\, or you may contact Sarah
 Donnelly at sdonnelly@masslibsystem.org to
cancel.\n\n\n\nDescription:\n\nDo you have any "difficult" people on your
library's board? Do they try to stymie your efforts\, or even speak out
against the library or its staff? Unfortunately\, this happens often when
board members don't fully understand library processes or when they bring
their own agendas to their positions. Sign up for this webinar to hear
stories—and solutions—from someone who's spent many years working with
board members.\n\n\n\nFollowing this webinar\, you'll learn the art of
 dealing with types of troublesome
 trustees:\n\n\n	Micro-managers\n	Second-guessers\n	Disengaged
 slackers\n	Know-it-alls\n	Single-issue
pushers\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenter:\n\n\n\nCathi Alloway served as Director for
the Schlow Centre Region Library and as co-Director of the Federation
of Centre County Libraries (both in PA) for 10 years. She has over 30 years
of public library administration and consulting experience. Cathi has
written and presented extensively on library management\, community
 engagement\, outreach services\, fundraising\, and library trustee
roles. She's a Past President of the Pennsylvania Library Association and a
 current consultant with Library Strategies.
