Understanding Teen Behavior

Understanding Teen Behavior In-Person

Teens and their libraries face unique challenges post-pandemic. This workshop for library staff of all types addresses teens' evolving social and emotional needs. We'll explore developmental stages, effective responses to boundary-testing behaviors, and strategies to support and engage teens. We'll also share our own experiences and approaches for a positive library environment with each other as a group.

As a result of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Identify “ages and stages” teen behaviors for at least one teen developmental group.
2. Define social-emotional learning (SEL) and explain where libraries can fit in to develop SEL skills in teens.
3. Make connections with other library staff and brainstorm approaches for dealing with teens.

How will I be participating?

During this in-person workshop, expect frequent, active participation for maximum impact! Collaborate with peers through the use of breakout groups and hands-on activities.
