The Northeastern Readers' Advisory Round Table studies READALIKES: Title

(Note: All NE M RA RT discussions will be Virtual Zoom meetings sponsored by a member library. Members will recieve a link to sign-up via our Google Group, anyone else who is interested should email Leane at rapotential@gmail.com)

Our current topic is Readalikes from a variety of perspectives. Our third Readalike topic in November is Title (11/26/24), and then we continue into 2025 in January with Style (1/28/25), and end our exploration in March with Sure Bets (3/25/25). We began Readalikes with Author in May 2024 and over the summer we looked at Mood in September 2024.

For the Title Readalike benchmark, everyone reads TBA. In addition to reading the Benchmark, come to the discussion with at least one to three authors/titles that you feel are a good Readalike for TBA, and be prepared to explain why based on Appeal.

Please note that your Choice title in this Title Readalike assignment includes an additional step like previous Readalike Choice assignments: Please choose one Title from either the suggested list on our blog, or one that you choose yourself. Provide at least one to three Readalikes for that Title based on the Appeal of the book you read as well as write a brief review on our blog under Submit Choice Titles.

Meeting every other month, the NE RA RT reads from one genre ot topic--and then discusses the appeal of that genre with each other emphasizing the building of a skill set of appeal categories and familiarity of genre/topic particulars. We cover a different genre/topic every meeting, allowing each of the participants to be introduced to the discipline of reading for appeal, as well as an initiation to broad genre categories. Everyone participating will be able to share analysis of titles and authors in unfamiliar genres that will stretch their capacity as readers' advisors.  The discussion leader is Leane Ellis (rapotential@gmail.com).
