Dipping a Toe into Sociocracy: An Invitation to Share Power Online
Time is a precious, shared commodity. Meetings are a space in which this can feel most evident.
Are you tired of meetings that go over time and end with frustration, lacking resolution or a clear path forward? Do you witness (or participate in) talking over colleagues or shrinking from participation?
Madeleine will cover some basic practices of this form of self governance for small groups and organizations, including: speaking in rounds, consent decision making and co-creation of proposals. Dividing up into break out rooms, you will get to test out some of these approaches to sharing power while enhancing clarity and goodwill in meetings.
In this virtual workshop, you will learn:
- basic structure and tenets of Sociocracy
- tools for bringing clarity and clear communication to meetings
- real life applications to using Sociocracy in libraries and other organizations
- how to find training opportunities
Presented by Madeleine Charney:
