Growing a Healthy Library Culture (PCI Webinar) Online
The Massachusetts Library System is pleased to announce that we have contracted with PCI Webinars to provide our members with access to their live webinars. These webinars are free to MLS members who register through our calendar. Culture is all around us - it's the water for the fish!
In 2022, library science graduates looking for jobs ranked a positive, healthy workplace culture as being an even more important attribute than salary. A toxic workplace culture can impact mental health, decrease productivity, and lead good employees to work elsewhere. If you haven't looked at your organizational culture recently, it may be time for a refresh.
Join Library Director Jeannie Dilger for a look at what culture is, how to get staff involved in creating or revising your culture statement, and ways to implement your culture throughout the library. Learn how to shape your library's culture for a positive workplace environment.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Differentiate between mission, vision, and values
- Identify hidden and stated values that already exist in an organization
- Develop a culture or values statement in your organization
- Keep the values alive by incorporating them into hiring, evaluations, and the daily work of the library
Jeannie Dilger~ Biography
Jeannie Dilger is the founder and CEO of Arranging Time, which provides productivity consulting, training, and virtual assistance for businesses or individuals. She has worked in libraries for over 30 years and is currently the Executive Director of Palatine (IL) Library District. Jeannie has an undergraduate degree in Speech Communication and Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s of Science in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Jeannie is known for helping coworkers streamline their work with software and technology hacks. She loves learning new technology and teaching it to her clients. She answers technology questions on Facebook and Instagram @ArrangingTime.
