Generative AI and Libraries: Beyond the Basics and Towards Integration Online
This workshop is for any library worker interested in learning and sharing ideas for integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI) into library services. Discuss opportunities and implications of using AI in libraries, developing effective prompts, and resources to further explore AI. If needed, prepare for this workshop by watching Jane’s recorded videos about the basics of generative AI.
As a result of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Describe opportunities for and implications of integrating generative artificial intelligence into library services.
2. Develop a prompt for text-generating artificial intelligence that follows the PREP framework.
3. Given a review of the MLS AI LibGuide, select at least one resource about using generative artificial intelligence that can be used in their work.
How will I be participating?
During this live virtual workshop, expect frequent, active participation for maximum impact! Collaborate with peers through the use of breakout rooms and other digital tools. Microphones and cameras are essential for full participation. Please note, sessions will not be recorded.
