Data Visualization for All: Practical tips to communicate data more effectively Online
As a result of this workshop, participants will:
- Be able to identify the key steps in creating a data-informed visualization
- Have increased confidence in choosing the right chart or graphic to effectively display data
- Be familiar with basic design principles that enhance comprehension and accommodate accessibility needs
Presenter Bio:
Amanda started her journey in libraries 12 years ago and has since worked in academic, public, and state government environments. Starting out she spent many years on public service desks, designing programs and helping community members find and use information. These daily interactions led Amanda to pursue her interest in building skills and strategies to help libraries uncover community needs, develop effective services, and demonstrate value to all levels of stakeholders.
Amanda holds an MLS degree from Simmons University and has developed trainings for the Public Library Association and Association for Rural & Small Libraries’ Outstanding in Their Field Leadership Institute, as well as, the People Connect Institute and the Research Institute for Public Libraries. She also serves as the Data Analysis & Communications Consultant at the State Library of North Carolina.
How will I be participating?
During this live virtual workshop, expect frequent, active participation for maximum impact! Collaborate with peers through the use of breakout rooms and other digital tools. Microphones and cameras are essential for full participation. Please note, this session will not be recorded.
