Join us for our Reader’s Advisory Round Table of Western MA Round Table discussion of the alternative history genre.  Our benchmark is:  A Master of Djinn by P. Djeli Clark.  In 1912 Cairo, a young special investigator with the Egyptian Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments, and Supernatural Entities is tasked with finding the murderer of followers of prophet al-Jahiz who eliminated the separation of magical and non-magical realms and then disappeared.  Alternate histories explore 'what if?'  Read our benchmark and a second alternate history title of your choice and join in the discussion of what works, what doesn't, and who might enjoy reading titles in this genre. (You are also welcome to join us if you haven't done the reading and are interested in the discussion.) 

We meet bimonthly via Zoom to explore various genres and readers advisory skills and how to use them to meet the needs of our users.  We discuss and compare the titles and their characteristics. We also find items of alternate media in the same general area using our whole collections as a resource.

In our alternating month Round the Table Chat sessions, we share whatever we have been reading and develop suggestions for materials with similar tone and appeal.  Join us for conversation, edification, and an opportunity to share reading/viewing/listening opportunities.
