Description:
In American and westernized cultures, there’s a widespread praise for being busy—whether it’s work stress, hustle culture, the expectation to be constantly overwhelmed, or the pressure to always perform. The “bragging rights” for staying late to finish a task set an unhealthy standard, implying that if you’re not overworked, you haven’t worked hard enough. This expectation extends across all fields, and in libraries, there’s the added pressure to always be there for patrons, stay open at all times, never take time off, and always be "on." However, succumbing to this kind of pressure is not only unhealthy, it’s also unnecessary and ineffective.
In this webinar, you’ll learn how to shift your mindset, reprioritize, and focus on what truly matters in your library work.
By attending, you will learn to:
- Identify unrealistic expectations in your library environment
- Develop strategies to combat the pressure to constantly outperform
- Retrain your mind to let go of guilt and stop allowing others to impose it on you
