Description
This workshop will explore best practices for building and promoting inclusive collections; from selecting literature to incorporating diverse titles in displays and programs, to conducting equity audits. Participants will learn how movements such as #WeNeedDiverseBooks have informed a movement to diversify publishing, and how to use resources to aid in equitable collection management.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify three resources for supporting inclusive collection development.
- Analyze a text according to principles of inclusive and diverse literature.
- Create one goal for a future display or program that promotes inclusivity in their community.
How will I be participating?
During this in-person workshop, expect frequent, active participation for maximum impact! Collaborate with peers through the use of breakout groups and hands-on activities.
