Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Techno-thrillers Genre Study Online
Please note that we have CHANGED OUR REGULAR MEETING DAYS TO WEDNESDAY and are using a new Zoom link. See below..
In March, we discussed the importance and challenges of technology in and on our lives and materials that will help us to understand it. This month, we move to fiction with a discussion of our benchmark These Fragile Graces, This Fugitive Heart by Izzy Wasserstein. These Fragile Graces is a fun, fast paced, cyberpunk adventure with entertaining dialogue in which Theodora "Dora" investigates the death of her former girlfriend. Can she look for answers without endangering the community that once sheltered her?
We will discuss the appeal of our benchmark and the audience for it as well as readalikes to suggest if the book is unavailable due to demand. Each of us will read a second title of our choosing in the genre as our personal choice. We have active discussions and come away with an awareness of additional titles to offer our users. Join us online to share your choices and hear those of colleagues.
We meet bimonthly via Zoom to explore various genres and readers advisory skills and how to use them to meet the needs of our users. In alternate months, in our Chat sessions, we share what we have been reading/watching/listening to and discover new titles, authors, and topics to enjoy.
Those who register for sessions will receive an email reminder a week before our meeting. For questions or suggestions, contact Alene Moroni (amoroni@forbeslibrary.org) or Jan Resnick (njrezz@comcast.net).
