Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Romantasy Genre Study

Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Romantasy Genre Study Online

For our summer benchmark, we will discuss the Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros.  In our benchmark, Violet, a  small and physically brittle young woman is commanded by her mother to become one of the elite Navarre dragon riders. Violet's efforts and competition with another cadet result in a suspenseful, sexy, entertaining story.

We will discuss the appeal of our benchmark and the audience for it as well as readalikes to suggest if the book is unavailable.  Each of us will read a second title of our choosing in the genre as our personal choice. Rachel Howzell Hall's The Last One is a good second choice, but NoveList offers several others.  We have active discussions, define the appeals of the books, and come away with an awareness of additional titles to offer our users. Join us online to share your choices and hear those of colleagues.

We meet bimonthly via Zoom to explore various genres and readers advisory skills and how to use them to meet the needs of our users.  In alternate months, in our Chat sessions, we share what we have been reading/watching/listening to and discover new titles, authors, and topics to enjoy.

Those who register for sessions will receive an email reminder a week before our meeting.  For questions or suggestions, contact Alene Moroni (amoroni@forbeslibrary.org) or Jan Resnick (njrezz@comcast.net).
