The Art of Facilitation: Creating Healthy Library Spaces in Programs & Beyond

The Art of Facilitation: Creating Healthy Library Spaces in Programs & Beyond Online

Description:

Regardless of your audience, successful programs require careful planning. Clearly communicating expectations helps everyone at a time when libraries serve many functions across diverse groups.

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn about different types of facilitation.
  • Describe the importance of unified messaging.
  • Implement realistic guidelines and boundaries.
  • Design communication scripts.
  • Apply feedback and self-reflection to improve.

Consistent facilitation supports program quality and morale, and is an accessible skill that applies across all library services.

In this 90-minute session, an adult services librarian and a children’s services librarian will speak for 50 minutes and then answer questions.

Presented by Heath Umbreit, Adult Services Librarian, and Kate Tigue, Head of Youth Services, Morrill Memorial Library
