Helping Patrons with Genealogical Searches

Helping Patrons with Genealogical Searches In-Person

Today's libraries give their patrons access to a wide variety of resources for genealogy or family history research. Sometimes it can be daunting to know where to start. In this webinar, Alice Kane of the New England Historic Genealogical Society's Library and Archive will offer tips and best practices for getting patrons on the road to research success. Common resources and methodology will be featured.

Alice Kane worked at the Boston Public Library for more than 20 years before becoming an independent genealogical researcher and speaker, and has been with NEHGS for more than 5 years. She oversees the day-to-day activities of library genealogists who support NEHGS’s reference, consultation, photocopy and chat services. Alice’s genealogical expertise and interests include Boston repositories, Massachusetts and New England research, Asian-American genealogy, maps and migration, genealogy software, and newspaper research.
