Readers' Advisory Round Table - West
Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams is our benchmark title for our discussion of Women’s Fiction. Our meeting will take place at the Springfield City Library meeting room at 220 State Street, Springfield. Queenie is an ‘own voices,’ compelling and witty novel about a young Jamaican-British woman in London. Constantly compared to her white middle-class peers, she makes a series of questionable decisions in the aftermath of a messy breakup before challenging herself to figure out who she wants to be.
As to the format of our meetings, we all read the benchmark(s) plus another title of our own selection, discuss the titles' individual appeals and ways of using these titles with our readers, and go home with information about the genre and 10 - 20 titles we now know something about. Reading and skills! What could be more helpful? We'd be happy to have you join us for a single session or the series.
