Cancelled: Getting Your Grant: An Introduction to the Art and Strategies of Proposal Writing
This workshop is cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions reported by the National Weather Service.
This workshop will provide a basic understanding about the steps involved in securing outside funding through grants for libraries. The focus will be more on the process of planning and developing an idea into a funded project rather than steps to apply for any specific award. Attendees are encouraged to bring a core idea or project for consideration and work with other participants on refining their ideas in a hands-on exercise.
- Understand the range of grant opportunities available to libraries.
- Review steps to plan, develop, and write a successful proposal.
- Apply this process to a specific project idea to develop for the library.
- Expand your knowledge about the grant seeking process and confidence to “go for it.”
Shelley Quezada is an Educational Consultant at the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners where she has worked in library development for many years as program officer with the federal LSTA grants. She is also Adjunct Professor at Simmons University where she incorporates elements of proposal writing into her class on Library Service to Underserved Populations.
Join us for the morning workshop, too!
Effective Meetings: Increase Productivity, Collaboration, and Innovation. Please register separately for both programs. We’ll break for an hour in between the morning and afternoon workshops. Bring your lunch or enjoy the local cuisine.
This workshop contributes to the MLS Strategic Plan goals of future-readiness, strong Massachusetts library community, and alignment with MBLC.
