Steer Your Career! In-Person
Do you sometimes feel like your library career is adrift in a sea of daily obligations or overwhelming change? Chart a course for the future, and take back the helm in this interactive workshop!
You'll start by examining your own skills, interests, and accomplishments, and then you will assess them strategically in the context of current and developing needs at your library and in the field more broadly. Based on this gap analysis approach, you will begin to explore professional development resources and design a career action plan using techniques that you learn during the session, such as informational interviewing. These strategies can help you grow in your current position, as well as work towards future opportunities in the distance. Finally, you will practice articulating your strengths so you can better promote yourself in professional contexts, from resumes to conference proposals.
Please bring a copy of your current resume or c.v. and a laptop or tablet with web access for this hands-on workshop. Those with all levels of library experience are welcome to join us. Instructed by Kelly Jo Woodside, MLS Consultant.
