Virtual Southeastern Mass. Reader's Advisory Roundtable (SE-RART) Meeting

Virtual Southeastern Mass. Reader's Advisory Roundtable (SE-RART) Meeting In-Person

PLEASE NOTE: This is a Roundtable Meeting for the Southeastern Mass. Reader's Advisory genre study group. New members are always welcome, but please be aware that this a participatory meeting, not a reader's advisory training presentation.

The Southeastern Mass. Reader's Advisory Roundtable (SE-RART) concludes its 2019-20 study of readalike lists with a discussion of Readalikes by Author. This meeting will be held on Wednesday, Apr. 29, 2020, 10 am-12 pm, via Zoom. Advance registration is required through the MLS Affiliate Calendar.

We are going to talk about best practices for developing readalike lists by author, using the benchmark title(s) as a starting point (i.e. "If You Like So-and-So").

Benchmark Title: Any book by Elin Hilderbrand OR Lee Child

Please read as much of the benchmark title as you can and seek out one or two possible readalike titles, along with a brief annotation or quote from a journal or magazine review that gives an idea of why each would be a good readalike by author for the author of the benchmark title (i.e. "If You Like Elin Hilderbrand", "If You Like Lee Child").

We will be discussing best practices for developing readalike lists; using NoveList for developing readalike lists; pros and cons of using author as a basis for readalikes, etc.

More information is posted on the SE-RART blog at https://rartsoutheastma.wordpress.com.
