The Future is Queer

The Future is Queer In-Person

Gen Z is the queerest generation according to recent studies and every community, no matter how large or small, how urban or rural, has queer teens & tweens in it. Because of that, it's more important now than ever to make sure libraries are serving their young queer patrons. This webinar will aim to teach attendees how to better provide services to queer teens & tweens in populations both big and small. We’ll cover topics including programming, collection development, customer service, and other accommodations that can help create a welcoming environment for queer teens & tweens to thrive in.

If you're unable to attend the live webinar, we encourage you to go ahead and register to receive the recording after the event.

Rob Lorino (they/them pronouns) is an Adult Services Librarian at the Robbins Library in Arlington, MA, where they run the library's Queer Book Group/Social & Reel Queer Intergenerational Movie Series. They tried out several other careers before finding their calling as a librarian, including fashion designer (they can't sew to save their life) & photographer (that one they're actually good at). When not concocting exciting plans at the library, you can usually find them playing video games (mostly RPGs & other games with strong stories), admiring artwork (the weirder the better), or luxuriating in the nearest body of water.

Katy (they/them pronouns) has been working in libraries since 2011 and is particularly passionate about Young Adult services for LGBTQ youth and Inclusive Collection Development. In their spare time, they write, swing dance, and play far too many games.
