Celebrating Diversity with Coretta Scott King Award-Winning Books In-Person

Please join us for an engaging and interactive virtual workshop celebrating diversity with Coretta Scott King (CSK) Award-Winning books. Deborah Taylor will present a program featuring a short history of CSK, book talks of CSK titles, and program and display ideas for using the books beyond Black History Month. This will be followed up by small group breakouts with a focus on evaluation.

Deborah Taylor recently retired from the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, MD. She has chaired and served on many national and ALA book award committees, including the 2019 National Book Award Jury for Young People’s Literature, the Sibert Award for Outstanding Informational Books for Children, the Newbery Awards, Coretta Scott King Book Awards and the Printz Award. She was named the 2015 recipient of the Coretta Scott King/Virginia Hamilton Award for Lifetime Achievement. She is an adjunct professor teaching young adult literature at the University of Maryland, College of Information Studies.
