Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Epic Fantasy Genre Study

Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Epic Fantasy Genre Study In-Person

Save the date for our Reader’s Advisory Round Table of Western MA genre study of epic fantasy.  Epic fantasy appeals to readers who love world building and strong characters.  Our benchmark is Book 1 of Rebecca Roanhorse's epic series Between Earth and Sky, Black Sun.  As inspiration, Roanhorse uses the indigenous peoples of North and Central America.

Our Roundtable meets bimonthly to explore various genres and how to use them to meet the reading needs of our users.  This year we are meeting via jitsi to talk about the appeal of a particular genre, the readers who may enjoy that genre, and ways to incorporate them into our readers’ advisory services.  We select a benchmark title that we all read, then a second of the genre as our personal selection, then discuss them and their characteristics.

We hope to see you in June!  For questions or suggestions, contact Jan Resnick (njrezz@comcast.net) or Alene Moroni (amoroni@forbeslibrary.org).

In the between months, we share what we are reading/viewing/listening to in our book chat discussions.   Join us for conversation, edification, and an opportunity to share reading/viewing/listening opportunities.
