Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West - Topic: Urban Fantasy In-Person
Join the Reader’s Advisory Round Table of Western MA genre study for a discussion of Urban Fantasy (aka low fantasy) to contrast with our June session on Epic Fantasy (high fantasy). We will explore this fantasy genre, meet new titles, and discuss how to use them to meet the reading needs of our users. We are meeting via jitsi to talk about the appeal of the tone and settings of urban fantasy, the readers who may enjoy them, and ways to incorporate them into our readers’ advisory services. Our benchmark title for this session is Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova. We all read the benchmark, then a second title in the genre as our personal selection. Our discussion includes our reactions and thoughts on the benchmark title, our individual selections, and their shared characteristics.
For questions or suggestions, contact Jan Resnick (njrezz@comcast.net) or Alene Moroni (amoroni@forbeslibrary.org).
In the between months, we share what we are reading/viewing/listening to in our book chat discussions. Join us for conversation, edification, and an opportunity to share reading/viewing/listening suggestions.
