Basic Library Techniques: Cataloging In-Person

Welcome to the Basic Library Techniques session in Cataloging. The BLTs are a blended-learning course consisting of two parts: Part 1 – an asynchronous online course consisting of four modules and assignments, and Part 2 – a live, synchronous class with Consultant Kristi Chadwick. 

Part 1 module topics include:

  • Cataloging Overview
  • Descriptive Cataloging
  • Subject Headings and Classification Systems
  • Contemporary Issues

Participants will register for their date choice for Part 2, and then will be sent information to access Part 1, which will open mid-September. Part 1 will be held through the new MLS Learning Portal (Moodle).

All work from Part 1 must be completed before attending Part 2. Please email kristi@masslibsystem.org with any questions.
