Join the Reader’s Advisory Round Table – West genre study for a lighthearted discussion of beach reads.  We will explore this grouping, meet new titles, determine what makes a good beach read, and discuss how to use them to meet the reading interests of our users.  The benchmark for Beach Reads is The Guncle by Stephen Rowley.  Second choice titles include, but are not limited to:  People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry,  The View was Exhausting by Mikaella Clements and Onjuli Datta,  Shipped by Angie Hockman, Impostor Syndrome by Kathy Wang, Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and authors like  Judith Krantz, Elin Hildebrand, Mary Kay Andrews, and James Patterson.

We are meeting via jitsi to talk about the appeal of these titles, the readers who may enjoy them, and ways to incorporate them into our readers’ advisory services.   

In our format, we all read the benchmark, then a second title in the genre as our individual choice.  Our discussion includes our reactions and thoughts on the benchmark title, perceptions of our individual selections, and their shared characteristics.
