This month the Reader’s Advisory Round Table of Western MA will  begin our genre study of graphic novels. Our benchmark (we all read this one) is Paper Girls  by Brian K. Vaughan  (Writer), Cliff Chiang (Illustrator), Matt Wilson (Colorist), and Jared K. Fletcher (Letterer).  We hope participants will select and read a second graphic novel in fiction to share with the group.  In the first part of the meeting, we discuss the benchmark and its characteristics.  In the second we share and compare our second selection choices.  We also find items of alternate media in the same general area using our whole collections as a resource

The Round Table meets monthly to explore various genres and how to use them to meet the reading needs of our users.  Sometimes we alternate months with genre study and the next month we share what we are reading/viewing/listening to in our book chat discussions.  

We are continuing to meet via jitsi to learn about the appeal of particular genres, the readers who may enjoy them, and ways to incorporate appropriate genre titles and authors into our readers’ advisory services.
