Sing Me A Story delves into the connection between singing and the acquisition of early literacy skills, language, and social/emotional health and learning in children. Designed for youth librarians and those who work with young children (3-6 years), we’ll gain comfort and practice skills in leading songs, explore methods for working with diverse groups, and delve into resources to help you employ music in your programming with confidence.

Elements include:

• Experiential skill-building in leading new songs, games, and book pairings
• Exploring the voice (technically and emotionally)
• Embodied play and using body language to lead
• Access to an online resource for ideas and inspiration moving forward

Emilia Dahlin is a performer-turned-community organizer. Returning from a pilgrimage of global service that took her to sustainable and intentional communities around the world, she returned to New England to co-found The Transcendence Project with Deb Bicknell, which uses music as medium for building community locally and globally. She’s also an In Kinship Archives and Performance Fellow (2019-2020) co-creating work that connects people to the Penobscot river watershed and its stories through centering the knowledge of Penobscot native guides.
