Moving Beyond Surveys: new methods to better understand your community In-Person
Libraries love surveys, but community survey-fatigue is real. To counter this we will explore other evaluation methods using inspiration from user experience (UX) and human-centered design theory. This workshop will help library staff from all library types prioritize community/user needs when designing services. You’ll walk away with simple strategies for gathering information about your user community as well as techniques you can implement without a lot of staff or time.
What you will get:
- Activities, discussion, and library use cases that will add new approaches to your evaluation and assessment toolkit.
What we are NOT doing:
- We will not be designing surveys
Learning outcomes:
- Attendees will be able to lead a small team in at least three qualitative research activities in the library.
- Attendees will develop a plan to implement at least one user experience approach at their library.
