Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Genre Study - Urban Fiction

Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Genre Study - Urban Fiction In-Person

The February meeting of our Reader’s Advisory Round Table of Western MA will examine Urban Fiction.  Our benchmark is any of the 16 titles in Carl Weber's Kingpin series.  Each installment in the series, written by the hottest urban ficiton authors, tells dramatic stories of life in cities across the U.S. focusing on the dirty deeds that keep those kingpins in power.

The Round Table meets monthly to explore various genres and how to use them to meet the reading needs of our users.  We are contining to meet via jitsi to talk about the appeal of a particular genre, the readers who may enjoy that genre, and ways to incorporate them into our readers’ advisory services.  We select a benchmark title that we all read, then each of us reads a second title in the genre as our personal selection.  We discuss and compare the titles and their characteristics. We also find items of alternate media in the same general area using our whole collections as a resource.

With the consensus of the group, some meetings share what we are reading/viewing/listening to in our book chat discussions.  Join us for conversation, edification, and an opportunity to share reading/viewing/listening choices.
