Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Genre Study - Narrative Cookbooks

Readers' Advisory Roundtable - West, Genre Study - Narrative Cookbooks In-Person

Join us for our Reader’s Advisory Round Table of Western MA genre study of narrative cookbooks.  Our March benchmark is Small Victories:  Recipes, Advice + Hundreds of Ideas for Home-Cooking Triumphs by Julia Turshen.  We all read the benchmark and then a second title of our choice.  Choice titles can be found at:

https://arapahoelibraries.bibliocommons.com/list/share/674188357/692640837

https://electricliterature.com/8-cookbooks-you-can-read-likebooks/ or you can select your own.  We discuss and compare the titles and their characteristics and appeal.  We also find items of alternate media in the same genre using our whole collection as a resource.

We meet monthly to explore various genres and how to use them to meet the reading needs of our users.  Currently we meet via jitsi to talk about the appeal of a particular genre, the readers who may enjoy that genre, and ways to incorporate materials in that genre into our readers’ advisory services.

In months without a specific genre study, we share what we are reading/viewing/listening to in our book chat discussions.   Join us for conversation, edification, and an opportunity to share reading/viewing/listening opportunities.

For questions or suggestions, contact Jan Resnick (njrezz@comcast.net) or Alene Moroni (amoroni@forbeslibrary.org).
